Independence.
What does it means for we, as Singaporeans.

It has been 42 years since the fateful day that we broke off with the Malaysian Federation. And I am proud to see my country rising to become a modern nation. From a sleepy village, a third world country with much challenges faced, into an almost 1st World Country. With the best minds of the country guiding through our course, we have prevailed.

I am always touched when they sing the national anthem and recited the national pledge every year before the parade ends. And Zubir Said's words keep ringing in my head.

'Majulah Singapura'

Indeed. Onward Singapore. At least its in Malay. Our national lingua franca.

Why did I state that we are almost a 1st World Country?
Because if a country lacks of political freedom and still practices suppression of the minds of its fellow citizens, it is still regarded as a 3rd World Country. Nonetheless, I still love my country.

Love your Country.
Hate the Government.
